Building an Outdoor Playground for Your Kids

This summer has been unusual to say the least when it comes to things that are happening around the world. You, like any parent, are probably concerned about the safety of your kids. This is completely understandable. You may not want them to go out and play in the public playgrounds. That being said, you may be looking for ways that you can help your kids still get their jittery energy out. If you have a home, then you will be happy to know that there is something you can do to get them out of the house while still keeping them safe. What is that you might ask?

If you can’t take your kids to the playground then bring the playground to them. Regardless if you’re the handyman type or not this is a DIY project that you can have the whole family help with. The great thing about doing this as a family project is that you get to pick the layout, the color and the design. If you have a kid that likes to rock climb, then put a rock wall on it. If you have a younger child, then you can choose the type of swing you would like fastened to it.

The first step that you will want to take if figuring out what the layout will be. Look at pictures of other playgrounds, get creative, tweak what you want. After you have found the layout that you want, it is time to make a list of all the materials that you’ll need. If this is starting to get overwhelming for you then it might be best just to buy a playground kit. Either way you go about it, your next step is going to be putting it together.

When you go to put it together, make it fun and do it with the kiddos. They thrive on love and quality time. Teach them how to use the drill if they are old enough. Let them do some pieces themselves. They will enjoy it and so will you. Don’t just stop with just putting it together though, let them make it their own. Have them choose the paint color and then give them a paint brush. When you get it all put together this will give your children the perfect space to call their own and you won’t have to worry about them getting sick while getting out all their energy.
